Clean Water Contractor Program

The Clean Water Contractor (CWC) Program encourages site contractors to prevent soil erosion, control sediment, and prevent and manage spills of hazardous materials from entering our local waterways. The CWC Program is a partnership between Erie Conservation District and Old Woman Creek National Estuarine Research Reserve (OWC NERR). The Ohio Coastal Training Program is part of OWC NERR and seeks local partnerships in stormwater management. Click here to learn more about the National Coastal Training Program. To become a CWC, the contractor must achieve the following:

  • Initially attend Clean Water Contractor Sediment & Erosion Control training
  • Sign a pledge card to be kept on file with the Erie Conservation District
  • Remain free of local violations pertaining to storm water runoff
  • Annually attend at least one Clean Water Contractor Program approved training (proof must be filed with the Erie Conservation District), AND attend our Sediment & Erosion Control Training once every two years

Registration is now open for the 2019 Clean Water Contractor Expo!

This year’s Expo will be held on Thursday, February 28th at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Sandusky, Ohio. This one day event includes:

  • Ohio EPA’s General Construction Permit compliance requirements & updates  
  • Updates to ODOTs Supplemental Spec 832
  • How to remain profitable yet still manage stormwater runoff
  • Differences and challenges of linear vs non-linear SWPPPs
  • Exhibitors of new products, equipment & technology available to the construction industry
  • Professional Development Hours
