New EQIP Applications Being Accepted

10 Dec New EQIP Applications Being Accepted

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) just recently announced that a new Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) sign up period is now underway, with applications being accepted through January 15, 2021.  A voluntary conservation program, EQIP helps producers make conservation work for them and the environment.

Through EQIP, NRCS provides agricultural producers with financial resources and one-on-one help to plan and implement improvements on their land.  By incorporating these Best Management Practices (BMP’s) on the farm and other property, this conservation effort could possibly lead to cleaner water and air, healthier soil and better wildlife habitat.

Financial assistance is now available in a variety of agricultural categories such as cropland and pastures.  Other special projects include forestry management, creating pollinator habitat, and restoring or improving vital wildlife habitat.  To participate in the EQIP program, contact your local NRCS office to discuss the options that will help you meet your natural resource management objectives.
