Over the last 10 years, ESWCD has partnered with the Ohio Division of Wildlife to collect milkweed seeds. This effort has been such a huge success, Ohio Division of Wildlife has paused this year’s collection and states, “Before we collect more, our priority needs to be getting the seed we already have back into the communities that donated the pods. This pause gives us an opportunity to focus on making sure the seed we’ve already collected is put to good use. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported this collection over the past 10 years. Thanks to all of you, we have collected and shared enough milkweed seed to plant over 40 million stems.” The Ohio Division of Wildlife also wants to make sure the community knows, “This is a pause, not necessarily a goodbye… We’ll continue to evaluate the program and determine what makes the most sense in the future. Thank you for understanding and, most importantly, for continuing to support pollinator habitat across Ohio.” Thank you, Erie County, for helping support habitats in Ohio!
