How would you like to attend a week long, one-of-a-kind summer camp this coming June? A place where you’ll be able to swim, hike, try your hand at archery and enjoy evening camp fires? You’ll be able to do all this and even more, while also learning about Ohio’s wildlife and forestry at Camp Canopy!
High school students from all across Ohio are afforded the opportunity to spend an adventure filled and memorable week, while getting closer to nature at Camp Canopy. This event will be held at the Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum in Carrollton, from June 8th through the 13th, 2025.
Camp Canopy is also a place where “future” foresters and wildlife professionals can put their knowledge of forestry and wildlife to the test. It’s a grand opportunity to “challenge yourself, try new things, explore nature, make lots of friends, laugh, experience adventures and be an important part of the team!”
Ever since the very first event back in 1950, Camp Canopy has evolved to become one of the most popular summer camps among high school students in Ohio, many of which have gone on to study natural resource disciplines in college! All who attend learn a ton of cool things related to forestry and wildlife in Ohio.
Camp Canopy registrations are now being taken and are open to incoming freshmen through graduating seniors (up to 19 years of age). You can sign up online at https://campcanopy.com/.
The cost to attend Camp Canopy this year is $500, which includes meals and all the programs! As in the previous year, the Erie Soil and Water Conservation District will once again be providing two, $300 sponsorships to eligible Erie County high school (or soon to be!) boys and girls interested in attending Camp Canopy this summer!
If interested in applying for a Camp Canopy scholarship, mail a letter of request to our office, 2900 Columbus Ave., Room 131, Sandusky, OH 44870. In the letter, please explain the reason you’d like to participate in this camp in June, along with your contact information.
At the end of camp, participants are also able to take a test to qualify for a scholarship to The Ohio State University’s School of Environment and Natural Resources, Hocking College’s School of Natural Resources, Zane State College, or a scholarship for the student to use at a natural resource school of their choice.
For questions with regard to the scholarship being provided by the Erie SWCD to attend Camp Canopy, contact our office at 419-626-5211. More information on Camp Canopy can be also found on the Camp Canopy website.
