The Erie Soil and Water Conservation District is pleased to introduce the candidates running for the Board of Supervisors. These individuals are committed to protecting and conserving Erie County’s natural resources and are volunteering their time and expertise to help guide the future of the district.
We encourage all eligible voters to attend the Erie SWCD Annual Meeting & Banquet and cast your vote in person.
Eligible voters are individuals who own or occupy land within the Erie Soil and Water Conservation District and are 18 years of age or older.
Your vote helps ensure strong local leadership for conservation in Erie County. We hope you’ll take the opportunity to get to know the candidates and participate in this important election.
Nominees are:

John Jackson is seeking a supervisor position on the Erie Soil and Water Conservation District Board. John has lived at 3411 Stonyridge Drive, Sandusky, Ohio for many years. John is married to Connie, and they have 3 adult sons.
John Jackson has been the owner and operator of Riedy Roofing Inc. in Sandusky, Ohio, for more than 40 years. John is moving into the retirement phase of life. John Jackson graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in Construction Technology. John and his wife, Connie, have been very involved with their church and have served on many committees over the years. John has raced sailboats for many years, including being a fleet captain and chairman of the building and grounds committee with The Sandusky Sailing Club. John is currently the president of “Friends of Pipe Creek Watershed”; he is also a board member for the Friends of Erie Metroparks.

Tom Krumwiede is seeking reelection to the Erie Soil and Water Conservation District Board.
Tom Krumwiede and his wife, Olivia, reside in Florence Township with their seven-year-old twin daughters and 2 year old son. Tom is a graduate of Firelands High School and The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute in Wooster where he studied crop management. He is a full-time farmer raising corn, soybeans, wheat, and a 100 head of beef cattle. In the rare instance where Tom has some free time, he enjoys bow hunting and fishing.

Tom Wensink is seeking reelection to the Erie Soil and Water Conservation District Board.
Tom Wensink and his wife, Jen, reside in Sandusky. Tom is a fourth-generation farmer on the family farm and part of Wensink Farm Seeds. They raise corn, soybeans, winter wheat, oats, barley, rye, buckwheat, and spelt for seed. Tom is a graduate of Perkins High School, The Ohio State University with a degree in Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering, and Hood College with a degree in Business Administration. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and spent six years working for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Frederick, Maryland. While working for NRCS as an Area Engineer and the State Hydraulic Engineer, he focused on water quality and flooding issues. Tom and Jen have a thirteen-year-old son, a ten-year-old daughter, and an eight-year-old daughter and a 6 month old daughter. He enjoys home improvement projects, spending time with his family, and working on the farm.
Want to know how to vote?
The Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Commission will cause an election of Supervisors of the Erie Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) to be held in accordance with Chapter 940 of the Ohio Revised Code. Individuals who own or occupy land within the Erie Soil and Water Conservation District and are 18 years of age or older may vote for Supervisor.
There are 3 ways an eligible voter can cast a ballot:
- At the SWCD office, 2900 Columbus Avenue, Room 131, Sandusky, OH 44870, from 8/19/2026 until 9/16/2026 during normal business hours and on 9/17/2026 from 8 AM – 1 PM.
- At the SWCD Annual Meeting, which will take place at Milan Township Ballroom, 24 Park St., Milan, Ohio 44846 on 9/17/2026 from 5:30 – 6:30 PM; or
- Voting absentee from 8/19/2026 until 9/17/2026, by requesting the ballot application and election ballot from the SWCD office at the following address: 2900 Columbus Avenue, Room 131, Sandusky, OH 44870, by calling 419-626-5211, or by email CSeyler@eriecounty.oh.gov. Absentee ballots must be received at the SWCD office by 1 PM, 9/17/2026.
Two (2) Supervisors will be elected to a three‐year term commencing January 1, 2027, and ending December 31, 2029.
